Making your own GF granola is easy-to-make nutritious breakfast food. This recipe is high in Omega 3s. Once you have the basis recipe you can design your own signature dish. Makes 1 quart. ***
Ingredients:
2 TBL vegetable oil such as canola, or walnut
3/4 up dark brown sugar
1/2 cup egg whites
1/2 tsp salt
3 cups GF Oats
1 cup nuts such as pecans, almonds, walnuts or a mixture, roughly chopped
1/2 cup raisins, craisins or dried fruit of choice
1/2 cup flax seed (optional)
1/2 cup pitted dates, roughly chopped
1/2 cup honey
Mix It Up
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Prepare a baking sheet with parchment paper.
1. Whisk oil, sugar, egg whites and salt in medium bowl.
2. Add oats, nuts, raisins and flax seed. Stir until well coated.
3. Spread on lined baking sheet and bake for 15 minutes. Remove from oven and add dates and honey. Bake for another 10 minutes or until golden brown. Stir to loosen. Let cool.
4. Store granola in an airtight container.
